KACSO EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

CALL TO ORDER:

  • Chris Esquibel, 29th (President), Tom Weishaar, 1st (Vice-President) Spence Koehn, 4th (Parliamentarian / Training), Kelsey Cox, 27th (Public Relations), Stephanie Springer, 27th (Membership/Nominations), Brad Schuh, 3rd (Legislative), Ryan Duckers, 29th (Secretary), Kelly Johnson, 4th (Treasurer) – Arrived Late

OFFICER’S REPORTS:

  • Reading/Review of the Minutes:

  • President, Chris Esquibel (29th), called the meeting to order.

  • Reading and review of August 2018 and September 2018 Executive Board minutes.

  • Kelsey Cox (27th) moved to approve both August and September 2018 minutes as submitted. Tom Weishaar (1st) seconded the motion. All in favor and motion approved.

  • Treasurer’s Report:

  • August 2018 report submitted with an ending balance of $35,171.73

  • September 2018 report submitted with an ending balance of $29,035.87

  • Stephanie Springer (27th) moved to approve the reports as submitted. Kelsey Cox (27th) seconded the motion. All in favor and motion approved.

  • 3rd Quarter Treasurer’s report will be submitted to the association at the business meeting.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  • Training

  • The replacement that was secured to fill the spot of the cancelled session has also had to cancel. Training Committee did secure someone from Johnson County Mental Health who has done past trainings to present.

  • There will be CEU’s for mediation at the next conference.

  • Looking to possibly schedule the November board meeting at the new conference center in Salina.

  • 50/50 raffle will include the money, stay and play at the casino and a KACSO bag.

  • Everything for this conference is done and ready to go.

  • Site Selection

  • Upcoming Conferences:

  • Spring 2019 Four Points – Manhattan, KS on April 9-11 - Contract

  • Fall 2019 Kansas Star Casino – Mulvane, KS on October 16-18 – Contract

  • Spring 2020 – April 22 – 24 – Still talking with Manhattan and may do site visit to Salina in November.

  • Fall 2020 – October 21 -23 – Talked with Prairie Band and they are willing to offer contract again.

  • Legislative

  • There will be a legislative update during the Thursday afternoon sessions.

  • Will be meeting with lobbyist in November following the elections to start discussing things the association wants to pursue during the upcoming legislative session.

  • Next legislative meeting will be December 11th.

  • Public Relations

  • We have received $500 in vendor donations for the conference so far.

  • 10 vendors have been secured for this conference to include a vendor selling personal defense items.

  • Membership and Nomination

  • Membership fees are increasing to $75.00 in 2019 as voted on at the October 2017 board meeting. Chris will announce at the Chiefs’ meeting.

  • Brought up the need to discuss increasing non-member fees for 2019 at the November meeting.

  • Will swear in re-elected board members and newly elected Parliamentarian Brian Swenson at conference.

OJA REPORT:

  • Nothing new to report

OLD BUSINESS:

  • KACSO Raffle:

  • A spreadsheet has been made up and tickets are available for distribution or sales during the conference at the check-in table. Chris will advise the association of details at the business luncheon.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Nothing new to report.

CORRESPONDENCE:

  • Board received thank you notes from Sherri Smith and Shana O’Neill regarding the retirements gifts sent to them.

  • Conference notices were sent out to OJA.

BILLS:

  • $82.46 – Conference candy

  • $81.96 – Cornhole Tournament Trophy

  • $70.20 – Tom Weishaar (mileage)

  • $190.40 – Kelsey Cox (mileage)

  • $13.39 – Kelly Johnson (nametag supplies)

  • Stephanie Springer (27th) moved to pay bills as submitted. Spence Koehn (4th) seconded the motion. All in favor and motion approved.

STANDING RULES:

  • Nothing new to report.

NEXT MEETING:

  • The next meeting with be on November 15th, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Hilton Garden Inn in Salina, KS

ADJOURN:

  • Brad Schuh (3rd) moved to adjourn and Kelsey Cox (27th) seconded the motion. All in favor and meeting adjourned.
