The purpose of the Kansas Association of Court Services Officers is to accomplish the objectives as set forth by the Constitution of the Kansas Association of Court Services Officers. This includes, but is not limited to, constantly improving the standards, practices and effectiveness of the Court Services Officers by providing an organization through which information can be disseminated and improved upon. Information on Kansas Court Services can be obtained through the Judicial Branch home page at www.kscourts.org. Additional websites relating to Court Services would include the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines at www.accesskansas.org/ksc/, the American Parole and Probation Association at www.appa-net.org/ and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention at http://ojjdp.ncjrs.org.

By becoming a member of KACSO you will be afforded and provided with a myriad of benefits. Some of those benefits are opportunities to exchange ideas with other professionals in the field, training workshops and conferences, reduced rates for training and you will be apprised of legislation pertaining to our field. As a member, you are encouraged to become involved in your association. Nominations for the Executive Board occur during the Spring Business Meeting. Also, several board members have standing committees. Those include training, legislative, membership/nominations and public relations. If you are interested in becoming involved on a committee, please contact that board member.

If you wish to join KACSO, please talk to your supervisor to see if your membership is automatically paid by your district or if you will need to pay yourself. Membership dues are $40.00 for calendar year 2008 and $50.00 for calendar year 2009. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding KACSO, please feel free to contact any board member on the list provided.
